Cardiff
Cardiff is the capital city of Wales located in United Kingdom of Northern Ireland. Wales was referred as Principality of England. Later the governance of the country is divided between the UK Parliament, England and Welsh National Assembly. During the beginning of 20th century, docks contributed to city’s massive growth. At one time Cardiff became the largest exporter of coal in the world. It is also 10th most favourite city visited by International Tourists.
History
Wales has a rich history. In 1950’s, Cardiff justified its nomination for becoming capital. Swansea, Llandrindod Wells, Caernarfon and Machynlleth were all in the race of becoming capital. Cardiff claimed to capital by its long history linked with coal. Cardiff also had a diverse population that consisted of many different ethnic groupings. The total investment and its work in Cardiff allowed it to flourish faster.
Cardiff reflects its status as capital as it has many assets. Cardiff 100 years of city status in 2005 as well as being declared as Capital of Wales in 2005. As of now, Cardiff is the most famous and youngest European capital city. Cardiff is a good place to visit and explore. The things for exploration are culture, western Britain, neighbouring Europe and heritage of Wales.
Many events are held in this city such as FA Cup, Olympic Football, Test cricket. Sci-Fi programs Torchwood and Doctor have filmed in this city as well as Welsh Drama called ‘Caerdydd’.
Railways and Ships exporting coal, iron and tin is now replaced by Cafes, Hotels, apartments and shops. Residents and visitors can get all kind of relaxation and entertainment here. Wildlife, in Cardiff, flourishes again in its cleaner waters.
