Maidstone is the town of Kent, England. It is situated within 32 miles of London. The Medway River resolute the centre of town connecting it with Rochester and Thames Estuary. This river was a source and route for the trade of city as the centre of the agrarian country of Kent. There is an evidence of settlement in regions dating back to ancient time. The town is in the region of Maidstone with the population of 164,500.
Governance
Members of Parliament:
The city is divided into the electorates of Maidstone and the Weald and Faversham and Mid Kent. Earlier in 1997 Maidstone was in the county constituency of Maidstone. The Member of Assembly for Maidstone and the Weald is Traditional Helen Grant. Preceding MPs include Ann Widdecombe, Sir John Wells, Sir Alfred Bossom and Benjamin Disraeli. Since 2015 the MP for Faversham and Mid Kent has been Conventional Helen Whately. Before the 2015 election, the MP was Conservative Sir Hugh Robertson.
Local government:
Kent County Council is responsible for social facilities, education, and conservation. It is also responsible for new organisation, fire services and minerals. It is chosen every four years. Maidstone elects nine legislatures, and villages are in the four rural districts. The election in 2013, saw a discount in Conservative Party support in Maidstone. The Liberal Democrats gained one seat. Votes were lost across the board by the Traditionalists, to the United Kingdom Liberation Party. The Libeartion Party came second in many places.
Geography
The city is six miles downstream from where the River Medway, . It cuts through the ridge moulded by the greens and so that the town cabins a site on two opposite hills, the easterly one covering the city centre. Beyond that, and higher is Penenden Heath.
The River Len seems the Medway at Maidstone. However a little river, it delivered the water to drive many watermills. The Loose Stream, which increases at Langley and joints at Tovil, when powered over 30 miles. Mill ponds on these rivers are a projecting article of the landscape.
Climate:
Kent involvements a nautical weather with cold seasons and mild winters. The nearest official Met Office is at East Malling, about three miles west of Maidstone.
East Malling's highest temperature of 37.4 °C (99.3 °F) was logged in August 2003. The lowest temperature logged is −17.8 °C (0.0 °F) during January 1947 and 1972.
